Rwanda Mission Trip

 As you may remember, in 1994 Rwanda, Africa endured one of the most brutal genocides to take place in recent history, losing nearly 1 million people in 100 days. Following the massacres, it took many, many years before the world fully recognized the ongoing economic devastation experienced by the country and its survivors along with the physical, emotional and spiritual wounds that would be difficult to heal.
Rwanda emerged from the genocide with approximately 300,000 orphans who had little or no remaining family alive to care for them, most of whom will likely never gain an education since the Rwandan schools are not publicly funded.
Instruct 50 Orphans on Living Independent, Self-Sustaining Lives
Under the direction of Sheryl Shaw, New Covenant will host a Youth Camp for approximately 50 orphans whose needs and education are sponsored by our church family (chosen by local ministers as worst-case-scenario situations). Partnering with Hope International, the Youth Camp will instruct the students on living independent, self-sustaining lives, teaching them in the areas of micro-industry and micro-financing.
 Orphans to Also Receive Medical and Psychological Help
In addition to the Youth Camp, a large amount of orphans from area villages are going to receive the medical and psychological help they so desperately need as area leaders organize them for our teams arrival.
Music Team To Teach
and Perform
Under the direction of David Mander, our Worship team will be leading worship at the conference in Kigali for 80,000. Following the conference, we will be teaching a series of music classes for Church Music Leaders. They will be instructed in basic theory and notation to help them preserve the music they have written. The musicians will be provided with resources such as books and computers needed to help train others.
