We are so glad you have joined us to celebrate the Risen Lord and to hear a message this morning from Fr. Christopher Caudle called "*When Worship Works.*" We look forward to seeing you online with us! Feel free to chat with us in the chat box. Here are the scriptures for today:  1 Kings 19:4-8 Psalm 130 Ephesians 4:25-5:2 John 6:24-35,41-51   # Summary of Sermon Fr. Christopher discusses the elements that make worship effective, focusing on teachings from the Gospel of John and the principles of worship in the church. It emphasizes the need to believe in Jesus Christ, the importance of communal and simple worship, and the transformation of individuals through scripture, spirit, and sacraments. - **Teaching from John 6**: John 6 describes Jesus's teaching in the synagogue about being the bread of life, which led many disciples to leave because the teaching was hard to accept. - **Principles of Worship**: JI Packer's five principles of worship include being congregational, simple, edifying, unifying, and expressive of the gospel. - **Three Approaches to Transformation**: Churches in North America use three main approaches for transformation: through scripture, spiritual experiences, and sacraments. - **Integrated Worship Approach**: This parish integrates scripture, spirit, and sacrament to transform individuals, recognizing that different moments call for different approaches. - **Belief in Jesus Christ**: The core message is to believe in Jesus Christ, not just in the signs or miracles he performs. - **Challenges of Faith**: Believing in Jesus can be challenging because he does not always act predictably or on our schedule, but faith should be placed in him rather than in specific signs. - **Role of the Father**: The Father draws people to Jesus, and worship should focus on this relationship, asking the Father to draw believers to the Son. - **Practical Worship Elements**: The church’s physical arrangement, such as the central placement of the communion table and the processional cross, reflects the focus on Jesus Christ.
