  About Hurricane Dorian

Hurricane Dorian made landfall in the Bahamas on Sunday, September 1st as a Category 5 hurricane and one of the strongest Atlantic hurricanes on record. It stalled there for 3 days wreaking havoc and destroying homes and businesses. The depth of the destruction in the Bahamas is becoming more clear as rescue workers are finally able to reach the most devastated areas. The official death toll now stands at 30, but is expected to rise quickly as the search and rescue efforts continue. Bahamian Prime Minister Hubert Minnis said Dorian left "generational devastation" and is asking for prayers for families of the deceased. There are no official estimates of the number of people displaced by the storm, but in Marsh Harbour, as many as 2,000 people were seeking shelter in a clinic and a government complex. For more than 60,000 survivors, the prospect of food and water shortages are very real.

We are responding by engaging our community and corporate partners to give product donations and financial donations toward relief efforts.

We have joined with our longtime partner, Food for the Poor, who is coordinating relief efforts in the Bahamas in conjunction with their recipient organizations and local government officials. Thank you for your generosity as we support those in need.
