The Great 50 Days of Easter Day- 17

June 3rd, 2014 by Christopher Caudle

Scriptures for today. Psalm 26, 28 · Exodus 19.1-16 · Colossians 1.1-14 · Psalm 36, 39 · Matthew 3.7-12

Prayer for today.

Almighty Father, who in your great mercy gladdened the disciples with the sight of the risen Lord: give us such knowledge of his presence with us, that we may be strengthened and sustained by his risen life and serve you continually in righteousness and truth; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Question for today.

St Paul says that the gospel he received is the gospel he passed along to the churches he founded. (1 Corinthians 15) Christ died and was raised according to the expectation and fulfillment of the Scriptures. Telling the story of Jesus is a succinct and focused way of telling the story of the Bible. And the story of Jesus captivates our imaginations as it compels our worship. What aspect of Jesus’ life and work grabs your heart as you listen to this song? This is a recent arrangement of an old song that tells the story of Jesus. In many ways, this is what all true ministry does. It retells the story of Jesus in new arrangements to reach people who have not yet heard or who have not yet realized God’s grace in Christ. The lyrics are below or you can watch the video here.

Glorious Day (Living He Loved Me) Casting Crowns

One day when Heaven was filled with His praises
One day when sin was as black as could be
Jesus came forth to be born of a virgin
Dwelt among men, my example is He
Word became flesh and the light shined among us
His glory revealed

Living, He loved me
Dying, He saved me
Buried, He carried my sins far away
Rising, He justified freely forever
One day He’s coming
Oh glorious day, oh glorious day

One day they led Him up Calvary’s mountain
One day they nailed Him to die on a tree
Suffering anguish, despised and rejected
Bearing our sins, my Redeemer is He
Hands that healed nations, stretched out on a tree
And took the nails for me

One day the grave could conceal Him no longer
One day the stone rolled away from the door
Then He arose, over death He had conquered
Now He’s ascended, my Lord evermore
Death could not hold Him, the grave could not keep Him
From rising again

One day the trumpet will sound for His coming
One day the skies with His glories will shine
Wonderful day, my Beloved One, bringing
My Savior, Jesus, is mine

Oh, glorious day
