Finding Jesus in His Future: A Journey Through Scripture
Understanding Jesus' Future
The Bible offers a rich tapestry of prophecies and teachings about the future of Jesus. From Old Testament promises to New Testament revelations, we see a steady, reassuring message: Jesus’ future is both promised and certain.
In Micah 6, the prophet reminds us of God’s enduring purposes for His people, calling us to live with justice, mercy, and humility. In the New Testament, especially in passages like 1 Corinthians 15, we’re invited to rejoice in Christ’s victory, His resurrection, His ascension, and His promised return to judge the living and the dead.
As we spend time in these Scriptures, we begin to see that Jesus’ future is not a distant idea but a living, active reality. Even now, He is at work, seated at the right hand of the Father, praying for us, leading His church, and gently guiding us toward a glorious future with Him.
This scriptural hope reminds us that Jesus’ future is filled with joy, purpose, and God’s faithful promises coming to fruition.
The Promise of His Return: Living in Anticipation

One of the most beautiful promises Jesus gives us is His return. This isn’t just a hope for the future; it’s an invitation to live each day with holy expectation. The certainty of His coming again can gently reshape our daily lives, our actions, our choices, and our relationships.
Jesus’ return is God’s promise of restoration, justice, and everlasting peace.
Living in anticipation means seeking to align our lives with the values of His Kingdom. It invites us to live out our faith with purpose and attentiveness, remembering that what we do today carries eternal significance.
Awaiting His return, we’re encouraged to be watchful, prayerful, and steady in our faith, allowing His love and grace to shine through us to the world around us.
The Kingdom of God: Present and Future Realities
The Kingdom of God is often thought of as only a future reality, something that will be fully revealed when Jesus returns. Yet in the Gospels, we discover that the Kingdom is also a present reality.
Again and again in His ministry, Jesus declared, “The Kingdom of God is at hand.” Through His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus inaugurated the Kingdom, allowing us to experience a foretaste of the future right here in the present.
As believers, we’re invited to share in this Kingdom life now. This means learning to live by Kingdom values, justice, mercy, and humility, and allowing the Holy Spirit to shape our daily choices. It looks like being agents of God’s love and peace in our families, workplaces, and neighborhoods.
When we do this, we not only look forward to the fullness of the Kingdom still to come, but we also begin to taste its transforming power in our lives today.
Living Out Our Faith: Aligning with Jesus' Mission

Aligning with Jesus’ mission means choosing, day by day, to live out our faith in a real and intentional way. Jesus’ mission was all about bringing salvation, healing, and restoration to a hurting world.
As His followers, we’re invited to carry that mission forward, allowing His love and compassion to shape how we speak, act, and relate to others.
This kind of alignment involves doing justice, loving mercy, and walking humbly with God, as Micah 6:8 reminds us. It means looking for ways to bless our communities, standing alongside the oppressed, and offering hope in the face of discouragement or despair.
When we align our lives with Jesus’ mission, we become co-laborers in His Kingdom work, joining Him in His good and gracious plans for the future.
Practical Steps to Embrace Jesus' Future
Embracing Jesus’ future is not just an idea, it involves gentle, practical steps that weave our faith into every part of our daily lives. Here are some encouraging ways to do this:
-
Engage with Scripture: Make a habit of reading and meditating on God’s Word. As we soak in Scripture, we come to know His heart, understand His plans, and learn how to align our lives with His will.
-
Participate in Community: Staying connected to a church family gives us encouragement, accountability, and shared opportunities to serve. We’re not meant to walk this journey alone.
-
Practice Prayer: A steady, honest prayer life keeps us close to God, opening our hearts to His guidance, comfort, and strength.
-
Serve Others: Looking for practical ways to care for those around us, especially the vulnerable and those in need, reflects Jesus’ love and helps make His Kingdom visible here and now.
-
Share the Gospel: When we gently and faithfully tell others about Jesus and His promises, we invite them to share in the hope of His future as well.
Taking these kinds of steps opens us more fully to the joy and fullness of Jesus’ future and finds us participating in His mission in meaningful, life-giving ways.
